Replacing the ‘Inside the NBA’ Crew With Current Players

‘Inside the NBA’ is arguably the best sports show of all time. The show has won multiple Emmy Awards, in large part due to its perfect balance of chemistry with the hosts, Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal.

But the unfortunate reality is that time is ineluctable and this crew will not be able to host the show for the rest of eternity. These are the current NBA players who I believe have the greatest potential to fill these very big shoes, no pun intended, after their playing days are over.

CJ McCollum for Kenny Smith

CJ is similar to Kenny in many ways, both on and off the court. Both are chill and smooth dudes who rarely lose their cool. This is why CJ would be a great replacement for Kenny.

Joel Embiid for Shaquille O’Neal

These are two giant people with equally giant personalities. Embiid, like Shaq isn’t afraid to tell it like it is, which is why he would have no problem stepping right into Shaq’s shoes.

Stephen Curry for Ernie Johnson Jr.

Ernie is the glue guy. He dictates the tempo and the pacing of the show and doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight with his other crew members and setting them up for success. Curry is the perfect replacement for Ernie because of his selflessness and amicable personality.

Draymond Green for Charles Barkley

This is going to be one of the tougher roles to fill because Charles Barley is arguably the funniest member of the show. Barkley isn’t afraid to laugh at himself, which is what makes him such a loveable and relatable personality. Both Chuck and Draymond have had to deal with their fair share of hate and criticism on the court, but at the end of the day, they do not let it change who they are and are able to stay true to themselves. And this is why I believe Draymond would thrive in Chuck’s role on the show. Not to mention, they are/were both thicc, undersized power forwards.
